7 Eyelash Extension Aftercare Tips That Make Them Last Longer

Eyelash extensions in Canada are truly a saviour for those who aren’t blessed with naturally long lashes.

With just two hours at the salon and letting your lash artist sprinkle their magic on your lashes, you can say goodbye to your mascara and welcome your new flawless and gorgeous eyelashes every morning when you wake up.

Not to mention the extra 15 minutes of sleep in time without having to do your eye makeup! Now, who wouldn’t want that?

In order to maintain the look and lifespan of your lash extensions, we have compiled 7 eyelash extension aftercare tips to help you make the most out of your precious time and money.

AVOID WATER AND STEAM FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS

If you want to keep your lashes last longer, avoid anything that involves getting your lashes exposed to water/steam.

After eyelash extension, you should give at least 24 hours for the glue to fully dry. You can still shower, but make sure your back is facing the water and do not put your head under the splashing water.

When the 24 hours are up, your lashes can be washed daily (with a lash foam cleanser) and gently dry the eye area with a soft towel to avoid bacteria build-up.

SLEEP ON YOUR BACK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

Try to sleep on your back rather than your stomach, as sleeping with your face down causes pressure on your eyelash extensions and makes your lashes go out of shape or fall out.

If you are accustomed to sleeping on your side, make sure your head is put on the edge of the pillow to avoid your lashes touching the pillow or the bed.

USE OIL-FREE MAKEUP REMOVAL

You do not have to wear mascara if you have lash extensions on as there is not much difference between natural eyelash extensions and lash extensions with mascara.

If you really have to, avoid waterproof mascara formulas at all cost because they are much harder to remove and require using oil-based makeup removal (which is also definitely a no-go for your lashes)

AVOID MASCARA EYELASH

Please note in mind that eyelash extensions procedure takes around 60-90 minutes. Hence, as an eyelash extension aftercare advice, we do not encourage having a bathroom break during this period.

You will not want the uncomfortable feeling of needing to go to the bathroom that will potentially ruin your relaxation time.

Thus, we recommend you to go to the washroom before-hand to ensure you are as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

USE A LASH WAND (COMB REGULARLY)

Lightly comb your lashes every morning when you wake up. Use a lash wand that is made for extension lashes, brush your lashes gently to keep them properly aligned and looking gorgeous.

At Dreamlash, we provide free lash wand to our customers every visit to keep your lashes neat looking and clean.

RESIST THE URGE TO RUB

One of the most important eyelash extension aftercare advice that lash artists will give is not to rub your eyes after eyelash extensions.

You will need to resist your habit of rubbing your eye as it will damage the lashes and cause your lashes to fall out quicker.

If you tend to have itchy eyes, use the tip of your fingertips to gently rub on your lids with your eyes closed to avoid stress on your eyelash extensions.

TOUCH-UP EVERY 3 WEEKS

Naturally, you will lose your extension lashes over time due to your eyelash growth cycle regardless of how careful you treat your lashes.

To ensure the longer lifespan of your lashes, it is suggested that you should go for a touch-up session every 3 weeks.

With the right technique and proper care, your lashes will remain healthy and damage-free despite doing extensions continuously.

We hope that 7 eyelash extension aftercare tips can help to ensure that your eyelash extension lasts a long time, saving your precious time and money in the process.
